What This All Means to Us...
“I came to NCB Capital Impact with the goal of using my financial skills for projects targetting low income communities. It is important to me that everybody has a chance to receive high quality healthcare and education, no matter where you were born and how much your parents make. I recently saw a movie on South Africa, where someone said that our freedom starts when everybody is free.”
- Virginie Arnaud Le Pape, Senior Loan Officer
“We care about opening those gates of opportunity (to health care, education, housing and aging with dignity) so that everyone can walk through.”
- John Holdsclaw, Director of Policy Development
“I believe that a committed group of people can make a difference in the world and am proud to work for an organization and with people doing so on a daily basis.”
- Ruta Kadonoff, Associate Director, The Green House Project
“What I care most about is breaking the cycle of poverty so that everyone has the opportunity to know who they are, to be their best selves, and to contribute to society.”
- Annie Donovan, Chief Operating Officer
“The reason I work so hard and remain committed to NCB Capital Impact after all these years is the mission. Everyone should have access to quality healthcare and education regardless of their ability to pay. I recently made a site visit to a newly constructed health center that was financed by NCB Capital Impact. The waiting room was packed with people. My first thought was that this all would not have been possible without NCB Capital Impact and its dedicated employees!”
- Kathy Jolly, Loan Associate Manager
“In my previous life, my goal was simple – develop professional skills, climb the corporate ladder. Success came but with a diminishing marginal satisfaction since I felt I missed something. That feeling was like a small hole deep in my heart. And it kept getting bigger.
My best friend AA once took a volunteer trip to Kenya to help building school for a small village. She worked with her bare hands to make bricks from mud, but she was so happy knowing kids there now have their very first chance to explore their potentials. I knew that was the feeling I was looking for. However, meanwhile I asked myself ‘Is this the best you can do in helping others? How can you leverage yourself to the maximum? ” In an old Chinese saying, we believe “Understanding others is bright, understanding yourself is wise”. I realize as an individual, I can only achieve to certain limit. It is just like a utility bolt can do certain functions. The difference is made by putting it in different places – in an M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank or a Caterpillar D9 bulldozer. I found my place at NCB Capital Impact. Yes, I am still crunching the numbers, but NCB Capital Impact gives the work a different meaning – everyday, for everyone, we are building - schools, clinics, nursing homes; a fairer capital system, a bigger hope, a better life.”
- Catherine Lee, Senior Financial Analyst
“NCB Capital Impact is special because it provides innovative solutions to help communities help themselves! We honor the diversity and cultural fabric of each community we work with and commit to doing all we can to help them meet their potential.”
- Candace Baldwin, Senior Policy Advisor, Center for Long Term Supports Innovation
“The harder we work the better life can be for elders, their families, and caregivers.”
- Melissa Honig, Project Guide, The Green House Project
“In his book "Managerial Courage", Harvey A. Hornstein says, "No organizational regeneration, no industrial renaissance can take place without individual acts of courage." Working here at NCB Capital Impact means that every enterprising spirit is nurtured, supported and listened to; it means that you can use your heart and your head every day; it oftentimes means taking a leap of faith - faith in the success of our mission, faith in our knowledge and skills, faith that we know that doing the right thing might override a less than perfect business decision. I work here to test the boundaries on a daily basis - an act of courage mirrored throughout the organization."
- Shannon Scott, Controller
“As a human being, I care about the state of not only our community, but the society in general. I work here because I believe in and support the mission and vision of NCB Capital Impact. To provide underserved communities and its people to have a piece of the American Dream- health, wealth and prosperity is truly what we are about. I feel good when, we finance another school, healthcare facility, help someone become a homeowner, assist the elderly, and provide technical assistance. All these transactions bring us one step closer to allowing everyone equal access.”
- Kelley Brown, Loan Servicing Specialist
